Paleo Challenge

For 50 days, starting Monday the 7th of Feb, you are to consume a Paleo Diet for all meals. There will be a $20 entry fee and each participant will need to e-mail a "before" & "after" picture for final judging. Each participant will also need to submit 5 recipes that they have made and eaten over the 50 day period. Why? because this is a learning experience for everyone, help other with awesome recipes so they get great results and stick to the program.

Some general rules:
 * Each participant must keep a food diary for the 50 days, it must be checked each 10 days by either Burgy or Bella.
* Each participant must have their "before" picture e-mailed to crossfitwoolgoolga@hotmail.com by sunday 13th Feb 12pm.
* Each participant must submit a recipe they have made and would recomend to others each 10 days.
* Each participant is allowed 10 "cheat" or "relaxed" meals in the 50 days. Remember you aim is not to undo all the good work you have done in 1 meal, it is to satisfy any cravings u have or just relax with friends when out to dinner or coffee.

Paleo vs Zone?

This is a big one for CrossFitters and Zoners alike. The ZONE is purely a ratio of nutrients in every meal to minimise hormaonal carnage in the body. Theoretically you can ZONE at McDonalds(check the fast food section at the bottom of the Get ZONED block list here), although it is not recomended. Paleo on the other hand is designed to mimic the diet of our caveman ancestors, essentially if you can pick it or kill it, you can eat it. If it comes out of a can or the ingredients looks like the elements of the periodic table stay away from it. Paleo is much more strict (think pre-agricultural evolution), no breads, grains, cereals, pasta or rice. no dairy because cavemen didn't eat yogurt, cheese or pasturise milk. I hope you're sitting down for this one ....and NO COFFEE!!!

Zone Diet:

The ZONE Diet, developed by Dr Barry Sears, is an extremely effective way of ensuring hormonal imbalances do not cause ill-health, poor perfromance or storage of excess body fat. By eating meals containing specific percentages of nutrients (Carbs - 40% / Fat - 30% / Protein - 30%) we can control our hormones, noteably insulin. CrossFitters train to perfrom better at life, it only makes sense that we should eat to meet this same goal.
